About Andrew!

Hi! I’m Andrew Balson — a Duke University engineering studen and Carroll Senior High School graduate. This summer, I’m teaching in-home coding lessons to younger students.

For some starters, I graduated in the top 3% of my class (~700 students), was a Nation Merit Finalist ( < 1% of PSAT scores), won the 6A UIL Robotics State Championship, was a Varsity Swim Captain, and much, much more. For my older students and parents, I love to talk college and share my personal tips and tricks to get through highschool with a high GPA and lots of extracurriculars. If you would like to talk with me, just let me know during a session, and book one of the longer sessions for the next time we meet to ensure we have enough time to cover coding content as well as talk through things. If you just want to talk college, book either the short (30 min) or long (60 min) college talk.

As for my experience with coding, I started in 5th grade. This laid a strong foundation for me to succeed in computer science and robotics in high school. Moreover, I CAN NOT stress enough how important it is to get an early start, especially within the field of computer science, as it is becoming more and more competitive now.

That’s exactly why I started Blue Devil Coding.

Each lesson is tailored to your student’s needs. I have a good understanding of what is feasible for each age group, and will create a custom plan with your student based on their understanding and performance throughout sessions.

I can’t wait to work with you!
